Uh-oh… our caption on page 176 under this photo of Earl Weaver and Boog Powell arguing with umpire Emmett Ashford needs an update. That’s not Earl Weaver on the left, it’s George Staller! In searching through historic photos we found this great picture that was taken during the 1970 World Series. It’s described in the archives as being Earl Weaver. Maybe forgivable – Earl wore number 4, first base coach George Staller wore number 48, and a “4” is only partially visible. Here’s that scene from another angle.
